Brexit. The vote to have Great Britain leave the European Union that is called Brexit was such that this vlogger didn't expect it to pass. When the idea of the EU was presented in the mid 80s, the objective was to create a kind of United States of Europe. A teaming up of European nations that would collectively rival the economic power of America. Or that was the intent. While the EU has worked very well in some ways, like Airbus Industries, it has not worked well in solving the same have versus have not economic problem we have in America. That has led to a rise in racism and anti-immigrant sentiment that some politicians over there have tapped into. Much like Donald Trump's rise to Presumptive Republican Presidential Nominee has been built on anti-immigrant ideas and racism in America. Young voters can stop this but in the UK context of Brexit, millennials did not vote at the rate expected - many sat at home. Looking at the fact that compared to 2008, when Barack Obama became the first black president of The United States, Democratic voter turnout as a whole is less as a percentage than it was then. We have to look to millennials to ask why. In the case of Donald Trump, Republican voter turnout was so high that record were set in 10 states. They were not paced by young voters but baby boomers. The Democratic Party has to really gear up its get out the vote program to prevent this. Because if we don't, we could wind up with Trump as President. That would be a bad thing. Stay tuned.
